Hoog Soeren was one opf the most preffered hunting arreas of Prince Willem the third. In 1677, the already existing "Jachthuis" was bought and given to the prince.
In the long history, this old tennants farm, with the hunting chamber belonging to the Prince of Oranje, has been the home of multiple farmer families. To provide for the family they kept large flock of sheep, which they would let wander the heath of Assel.
Even though the Jachthuis was thouroughly rebuild, the face and the window layout are still clearly recognizable. What has been kept - the reed roof aside - is the calm atmosphere. That and great location, the terrace with the view and the excellent kitchen, we highly recommend a visite for a nice lunch or dinner.
